1. The Akshaya Patra is the Sanskrit word for an inexhaustible vessel described broadly in the Hindu mythological stories.

2. In Mahabharata, Yudhishthira had Akshaya Patra as a gift from the Hindu sun god Surya.

3. Surya Dev had warned Yudhishthira that the platter would only remain full for the day until Draupadi (the last one to eat in the family) has eaten her meal.

4. Duryodhana was extremely jealous of the fact that the sages praised Panchali (Draupadi) for her kitchen being always full of food because of the Akshaya Patra.

5. He secretly desired that Sage Durvasa should curse the Pandavas in anger and so he convinced the sage to visit the Pandavas hermitage along with his disciples after Draupadi finished her meal.

6. At this time, Draupadi could offer nothing to a group of respected sages, but just an empty pot in which there were just little chunks of rice left.

7. To rescue her and Pandavas from the Sage Durvasa’s anger, Lord Krishna ate one of the grains stuck on the rim of the Akshaya Patra and sated the hunger of all of the mankind.

8. Do you know this day is still annually celebrated by Hindus as Akshaya Tritiya? Isn’t this a fascinating story
